Attending The Festival of Media Asia 2013 in Singapore.

The Festival of Media Asia 2013 takes place from 3-5 March 2013.

I personally am quite stoked about the two days: 4th and 5th March. There seems to be a solid line-up of speakers and sessions.

Check out the speaker line up for yourself.

And the Festival agenda here

Earlier, I usually attended these events from a Media Agency (when I used to work with Media agencies) or from a Brand perspective, later (When I was working with Nokia). And now I am attending this having my own media startup: The Whiz Times.  What a feeling. Of course, Chasing The Storm continues to be a solid platform to document my thoughts on these superb events. (Thanks to Rice Comms for extending the invite)

So this is a big scale event. The Who’s Who from media industry are expected to be there. Tickets for the event could be booked from here.

Noticed some really interesting stuff. Firstly, the digital prep looks solid. Not only the website- which is choc full of details, social sharing embedded, online booking, the works- but they also have a mobile app in place for event delegates. I have planned something like this before, and all of that is coming back- not easy. Appreciating all of that much more.

Another interesting thing for me is a module in the event called the MAP or the Media Accelerator Programme.

The Media Accelerator Programme (M.A.P) is a unique project designed to match innovative new companies to the most senior decision-makers in global marketing and media. Since its launch in 2011, it has had applications from over 50 new companies and awarded four “Hot Company of the Year” citations. All applications are assessed by a jury of VCs and successful media entrepreneurs who then shortlist 5 companies that are asked to join the speaker line-up of The Festival of Media. This becomes the entering company’s chance to pitch their businesses with one company being voted by the delegates as “Hot Company of the Year”.

How I wished to bring The Whiz Times to this programme- we are a real ‘grounds up’ independent media company – with a tonne of innovative stuff. It would have been great to join. Except when I saw the fee.

For someone just beginning to come up, and that too mostly bootstrapped- when it comes to spending that kind of money, other priorities always take precedence.

Either ways- hopefully I could see some other companies presenting, meet some great guys and generally have fun.

Awesome being a part of this event.
